Aaron Plessinger is sitting pretty. He locked down third place in the 2023 450 title chase. He just signed a new KTM deal for next season and, if rumors can be believed, he will be joined in orange next year by Chase Sexton.

Justin Cooper was 22 points behind Hunter Lawrence going into the Ironman National, but a first turn crash left him 13th in the first moto (which gave Hunter Lawrence, who finished 5th in moto one, the points he needed to win the 2023 AMA 250 National Championship regardless of what happed in moto two). As for moto two, Cooper finished second behind overall winner Jo Shimoda and Lawrence was 9th.

• MXA MOTO CHALLENGE QUIZ: CAN YOU NAME THIS 500 WORLD CHAMPION?

Can you name this 500 World Champion? He was one of three racing brothers and the first rider from his island nation win an FIM World Motocross Championship. He won on a KTM.  The answer is at the bottom of this page.

• BIKES YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE: 1980 FRENCH-BUILT BARIGO YB500

The French-built Barigo YB500 used a Yamaha XT500 four-stroke engine, but could be ordered to accept a Honda XL500 single also.

Barigo founder Patrick Barigault was asked by a friend to build a frame for his Bultaco in the early 1970s. People were impressed by the Barigault frame and he got an order from a distributor to build frames for Honda 350 engines. These bikes were marketed as the ITM 350. In 1976, Barigault made his first Barigo motorcycles. These were rolling chassis kits that used Honda XL and Yamaha XT four-stroke engines. If they used a Honda engine they were called HB 500s (HB stood for Honda/Barigo) and the Yamaha-powered bike were called YB500s (YB stood for Yamaha/Barigo). In 1983 Barigo’s switched to Rotax engines. Barigo stayed in business until the early 1990s making Supermoto and Rally bikes (and was the only French-made motorcycle of the time).

• ASV INVENTION IS SEEKING A MOTO RACE EVENT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Huntington Beach motorcycle parts manufacturer, ASV Inventions seeks part-time, experienced, motorcycle mechanic/tech to travel to local and out of town motorcycle tracks and races on the weekends to work the company Tech Support booth at motorcycle races to install parts and help customers. Technical and mechanical experience with controls and accessories on dirt bikes and street bikes required.
A clean driving record and vehicle to travel to work required. Must be able to drive large vans, trucks and RV’s/trailers. Hours and days during the week can be flexible and as little as 2-3 days a week. Weekend booth events would be 8-12 hour days on Fri/Sat/Sun starting early mornings on the weekends out at motocross and road road tracks in SoCal (Glen Helen, Pala, Perris, LACR, Cahuilla, Elsinore, etc for motocross and Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, Chuckwalla, etc. for road race).
