MOTOCROSS ACTION MID-WEEK REPORT
#WHIPITWEDNESDAY
Rider: Justin Barcia
Justin Barcia has always been known for his loose style. Barcia began his career by winning back-to-back 250 Supercross East Championships in 2011 and 2012. He would then do some racing for the HRC Honda team before moving to JGR Yamaha in 2014. He would stay with the team for three more years before heading to Factory Yamaha and now with the Gas Gas Team.
ROOKIE CHAMPION
Haiden Deegan got the job done last week in the final Playoff round of the Supermotocross series. After what seemed to be nerves struck Haiden in Moto One as he started near the front and faded back to fifth by the end of the moto, losing a position even to title contender Jo Shimoda. Haiden would rebound in the second moto two and maintain second through the moto behind teammate Levi Kitchen. Haiden’s result would give him the overall on the day and the overall in the Supermotocross series.
NO STOPPING ROCZEN
For many riders, missing most of a racing season is difficult. It’s hard to find race pace when getting back. This is not something that affected Ken Roczen, though. As he missed almost the entirety of the Nationl motocross season (all but one) and came into SuperMotocross Playoffs as fast as ever. This skill is not common in racers and shows how comfortable Ken is with his machine.
After many questioned Jett Lawrence’s math skills after his weekend at the Chicagoland SuperMotocross round, Jett proved he can ride better than he can do “maths.” Jett pushed himself to the end of two long seasons and will finish it off at the MXDN. Jett had one of the most lucrative and successful 450 seasons as a rookie ever. He earned every penny of the one million dollar pay day, and it will be interesting to see what car he pulls up to the pits at Anaheim One in.
